Christian Service

For the past 15 years Reverend Dr. David M. Yarber has served as the Pastor of Davison Missionary Baptist Church, in Detroit, Michigan. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Davison under his late father’s (the Reverend Dr. Herman Yarber, Jr.) pastorate, on the third Sunday in January 1968. Pastor David Yarber currently serves as the Moderator of the Calvary Missionary Baptist District Association of Detroit and Vicinity. He also serves as the Third-Vice Moderator of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist District Association of Detroit, Michigan. Prior to his entry into the preaching ministry Pastor Yarber served in various ministerial capacities over a period of 37 years including, Sunday School Teacher, Minister of Music, Youth Director, Trustee, Chairman of Deacons, Church Financial and Building Renovation Staff Member.

Education and Work Background

Pastor Yarber began his educational journey in Detroit Public Schools and has earned Business Administration Degrees from the University of Detroit-Mercy (Bachelor of Science, 1977) and Central Michigan University (Master of Arts, 1984). He was employed by the Ford Motor Company (for 30 years) where he held several managerial positions before retiring in March 2007. After acknowledgment of his call into the preached ministry in March 2005, he enrolled as a student at Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland, Ohio). He successfully completed the academic requirements for the Masters of Divinity degree (June 2010) and earned a Doctorate in Ministry, in Black Church Studies (June 2014).

Family

Pastor Yarber has been married to his lovely wife Wren for the past 38 years. Their union has birthed a son David II and a daughter Corrine. .
